United Nations Navy
The United Nations Navy (UNN) is the United Nations military organization responsible for the orbital and space domain, operating directly under Security Council authority rather than as a federation of national fleets.
Mission
The Navy conducts military spacecraft operations, orbital and deep-space maneuver, rescue and transport, strategic tracking and interception, protection of common space infrastructure, and custody and operation of heavy weapons assigned to it. Its authority is functional rather than altitude-based: the series uses an aerodynamic-versus-orbital rule to divide Air Force and Navy responsibility.
Command and accountability
The Security Council is the supreme military authority. National governments do not retain separate command shares inside the Navy and may not recall personnel or accepted assets for political reasons. Strategic custody never gives the Navy independent strategic-release authority.
Personnel and institutions
Citizens of every nation may apply. Prior astronaut, naval, technical, military, law-enforcement, or emergency-service experience may be recognized, but the UNN determines acceptance, qualification, grade, billet, and authority. English is the common operational language for command, safety, navigation, records, and multinational training.
Relationship with the Marine Corps
The United Nations Marine Corps is a subsidiary service within the Navy. The Navy provides transport, access, fire support, sustainment, and spacecraft operations; Marines provide boarding, seizure, secured entry, custody, expeditionary, and surface-combat capability required for naval missions.

The Navy emerges from the Mine crisis. The improvised multinational three-ship force departs Shackleton before the organization formally exists; the public name “UN Navy” begins when an overenthusiastic technician paints NAVY beneath the authorized United Nations marking on Justice.
On March 27, 2044, the Security Council adopts the Provisional Charter of the United Nations Navy, making the UNN the sole lawful military service for the space domain and continuing Justice, Refuge, and Judgement as its first commissioned vessels. Fleet Admiral Liu Jianming becomes the unique five-star head of the Navy and builds the early force around the complementary skills of experienced astronauts and submariners.
UN Marine Corps Base Cherry Point initially serves as the emergency intake and force-generation site. The permanent headquarters of both Navy and Marine Corps is established at UN Naval Base Cape Canaveral from the transferred Cape Canaveral and Patrick military installations, while Kennedy Space Center remains American. Somalia separately leases the former CSRC launch complex to the United Nations for 1,000 years as the principal terrestrial launch site.
When the Constitution of Humanity enters into force on January 1, 2045, the provisional Navy continues without interruption as one of the two top-level United Nations military organizations.
