Life in the 40s is the first volume of Mapmakers: Lives, a collection of grounded snapshots following ordinary people through a world where yesterday’s science fiction has become routine equipment.

The technology matters. The institutions matter. But the people living with them still have jobs to do, families to worry about, errands to run, and practical problems to solve.

To them, it is simply life.
