Type 096 Ballistic-Missile Submarine
Type 096 is China’s publicly reported next-generation ballistic-missile-submarine program, intended as a successor to the Type 094/Jin-class force.

The Mine carries the real program forward to an operational boat at Yulin in 2044. The submarine contributes two JL-3 missiles, associated checkout and terminal equipment, technical records, and experienced missile personnel to the emergency planetary-defense program. The boat itself remains a naval platform rather than becoming part of the spacecraft.
Why it matters technically
The contribution allows the multinational team to adapt proven strategic propulsion and guidance hardware instead of designing a clean-sheet deep-space interceptor under emergency timelines.
