TM-62M Anti-Vehicle Mine

Identification and design family

The TM-62M belongs to the Soviet TM-62 series of anti-vehicle mines. It is a large, generally circular metal-cased munition, designed for deployment against vehicles rather than personnel. Different TM-62-family models differ in casing and associated fuze provisions, so a family label is not a license to attribute every variant’s construction to the TM-62M.

Materials and hazard

Its metallic body can survive for decades in soil, though corrosion and terrain conditions affect identification and condition. Agricultural disturbance can expose long-buried explosive remnants without making them safe. Appearance, age, an exposed component or a partially visible casing cannot establish that an item is inert or that nearby soil is clear.

Reference limitation

This article is for historical and identification context only. It intentionally omits handling, triggering, bypass, disarming or disposal procedures. Suspected explosive ordnance requires specialist assessment and a protective exclusion area.
