Glock Pistol Family
Glock pistols are polymer-framed, striker-fired semiautomatic handguns sharing a common operating architecture across numerous frame sizes, slide lengths, and calibers.
Technical basis
In The Mine, Shackleton Station’s multinational Marine security detail standardizes on the 9×19 mm Glock 45. The real G45 combines a compact-length slide with a full-size frame and standard 17-round magazine. The pistol itself remains conventional; the series’ principal extrapolation is the equipment built around it for pressure-suit use.
EVA pistol chassis
For suited operations, the unmodified Glock fits inside a fictional white EVA chassis designed around thick-glove gross-motor manipulation. A forward grip mechanically unlocks a rear trigger grip, which then actuates the Glock’s factory trigger through a linkage. The chassis adds a red-dot sight, light, aiming laser, and hard tether points. Later UN Marine versions add a weapon-mounted camera feeding an aiming image to the operator’s helmet display; the Marine still makes the lethal decision and fires the weapon.
