MAPMAKERS TECHNOLOGY REFERENCE
F-15 Eagle
The F-15 is a twin-engine all-weather fighter family designed around air superiority, high performance, powerful radar, substantial fuel capacity, and a large air-to-air weapons load. Later variants add extensive strike, sensor, and electronic-warfare capability.
Technical basis
The family combines high thrust-to-weight ratio, a large lifting body and wing, long-range radar, and multiple weapon stations. Those characteristics keep the F-15 useful long after its original introduction, especially where range, speed, and interception performance matter more than low observability.
Later service in The Mine
During the 2045 constitutional transition, selected former U.S. Air Force F-15s transfer to the Department of Homeland Security’s United States Air Guard. The aircraft are painted white and restricted to domestic air-to-air interception. The technology is unchanged; the legal mission, command authority, and permitted weapons employment are what change.
