MAPMAKERS TECHNOLOGY REFERENCE

Dragon-Derived Passenger and Escape Capsule

Fictional 2044 transport architecture directly descended from SpaceX Dragon.

The Book Six passenger system places a seven-person Dragon-derived capsule inside a dedicated escape bay of a Starship-derived carrier.

Direct parent technology

Crew Dragon already uses SuperDraco launch-escape engines capable of pulling the capsule away from a failing launch vehicle. That real abort architecture is the direct parent of the fictional system.

Mapmakers development

Passengers remain inside the capsule throughout ascent. In an emergency the surrounding bay opens or separates and the capsule aborts independently. During an ordinary mission, the carrier reaches orbit and releases the capsule to dock with ISS2 or a waiting ship. Earth return is likewise performed by the capsule rather than by carrying people through reentry aboard the Starship-derived carrier.
