BEL UHF Software-Defined Radio
Bharat Electronics Limited produces military software-defined radios for secure voice and data communications in UHF and wider V/UHF bands.
Technical basis
In software-defined radio, much of the waveform and signal-processing behavior that older radios fixed in dedicated hardware is implemented in software. BEL’s published UHF handheld and V/UHF portable systems support secure voice/data communications and are designed for military ground and maritime use.
In The Mine
The manuscript identifies the MARCOS equipment only as BEL UHF software-defined radios rather than inventing a narrower model number. At Kismayo they carry ordinary tactical communications and digital information from operator equipment, including helmet-camera feeds.
