AGS-30
The AGS-30 is a lightweight 30 mm automatic grenade launcher designed to deliver sustained fragmentation fire while reducing system weight compared with the earlier AGS-17.
Technical basis
The weapon uses a belt-fed automatic action and is normally fired from a light tripod or vehicle mount. Its portability allows a crew-served fragmentation weapon to accompany mobile ground and maritime forces without the mass of heavier automatic grenade-launcher systems.
In The Mine
Each MARCOS assault RIB used at Kismayo carries an AGS-30 aft as part of its normal contested-insertion and extraction armament. The launchers are available but not fired during the operation because offices, fuel infrastructure, employees, and assault teams occupy the same compressed battlespace.
