MAPMAKERS ORGANIZATION REFERENCE
Consortium for Space Resource Collection (CSRC)
Fictional private space-resource corporation.
The Consortium for Space Resource Collection—normally called CSRC, pronounced “siserk”—develops asteroid-mining, refining, transportation, launch, and resource-return infrastructure in The Mine.
Real-world basis
Commercial extraction of space resources is not yet an operating industry, but its legal framework has begun to develop. U.S. law expressly addresses commercial recovery of asteroid and other space resources while distinguishing rights in resources actually obtained from national sovereignty over celestial bodies.
Mapmakers development
CSRC extrapolates current launch, robotics, orbital-industry, and space-resource concepts into a mature multinational commercial sector by 2044. Its principal physical assets include the Mine, terrestrial launch infrastructure, deep-space transportation systems, and associated communications and logistics networks.
