Taipei Address and asylum declaration (July 4, 2029)
Taiwan publicly declares its asylum policy and presents terms for ending the war in the Taipei Address.
What happens in the series
On July 4, 2029, Taiwan’s president Huang Hsiu-chen and U.S. president Alexander Valen speak publicly in Taipei. Taiwan and the United States present two paths toward ending the war, both requiring the immediate withdrawal of People’s Liberation Army forces from Taiwan. Huang declares that people escaping PRC jurisdiction and reaching coalition-protected international waters or a participating neutral transit country will be received and protected by Taiwan or the United States and offered asylum processing.
Valen frames the occasion as Taiwan’s own Independence Day achieved through survival and victory, explicitly not through a new declaration of statehood. This is a speech and public policy declaration in Chapter Ten, not a separate document declaring Taiwanese independence.
